Position Description:
The Research Operations Coordinator will report to the head of the Research Department and support all research team members.  The Coordinator will need to exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with the research team members that work remote via email, phone and teleconferences.  The Coordinator will also independently provide advanced support for the Research department and will be expected to deal with highly confidential material, including work pertaining to MDA’s Board of Directors.   The successful candidate will be able to multi-task, prioritize and organize assignments while working under pressure as well as be able to take initiative, work independently, and be a team player. The Research Operations Coordinator will also be responsible for independently preparing expense reports, as well as program and budget analyses.



  • Independently research, analyze and create board and reference materials for Scientific Directors.
  • Independently research, analyze and create timely materials for the scientific team.
  • Generate and manage complex databases required for the operation of the research department.
  • Develop, initiate and maintain productive, verbal and written communications and presentations with key internal and external partners, including but not limited to, researchers, clinicians, companies, families.
  • Manage departmental budgets to include reconciliation, schedules, work plans, KPI’s, and performance requirements.
  • Work with all team members to meet deadlines and ensure successful projects.
  • Coordinate schedules and details for internal Research team meetings as well as meeting with other MDA departments and external groups.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Must have 3 + years program support; experience with supporting multiple staff; ability to work with multiple remote team members.
  • Successful track record in strategic workflow management and office management including accounting, project planning, conference organization.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities without direct supervision.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; must be able to develop and maintain effective and up to date databases.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experienced presentation skills required
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced organization.
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, One Drive and Share Point; proficiency with Salesforce desirable.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills commensurate with level of employment.
  • Data-driven thinker with excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and respond to issues/opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work overtime.
